The sea castle of Ayas, the medieval port town where Marco Polo also called.
Its story
Yumurtalık, known in antiquity as Aegeae, was the most important port of the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia under the name Ayas in the Middle Ages; Venetian and Genoese merchants traded here. Marco Polo called at this port in 1271 as he set out on his journey to Asia. The castle remains on the shore and in the sea recall the harbor's former splendor.
