Misis (Mopsuestia) Ancient City and Mosaic Museum
Yüreğir, Adana
An ancient city on the banks of the Ceyhan River attributed to the legendary seer Mopsos, and a small museum housing the Noah's Ark mosaic.
Its story
Mopsuestia is a city founded at a crossing point of the Ceyhan (Pyramos) that became an important bishopric in the Roman and Byzantine periods. In the museum, a mosaic from the floor of a basilica, decorated with Noah's Ark and animal figures, is preserved in situ. Excavations on the mound and its surroundings are still ongoing.
