Taşköprü (Stone Bridge)
Seyhan, Adana
A stone bridge over the Seyhan River, standing since Roman times and considered one of the oldest bridges in the world still in use.
Its story
The bridge is believed to have been built in the 2nd century AD, during the reign of Emperor Hadrian. Over the centuries it was repaired and used in the Byzantine, Abbasid, Ramazanoğulları and Ottoman periods. Open to vehicle traffic for many years, the bridge is now open only to pedestrians. With its evening lighting, it is the loveliest spot for a riverside walk.
