Alçak Köprü (Low Bridge)
Merkez, Amasya
A four-arched stone bridge rising on Roman-era piers, linking the castle side to the south bank.
Its story
The bridge's piers are believed to date back to the Roman period, the 2nd century AD. It was rebuilt in 1865 by Governor Ziya Paşa; its wooden deck was replaced with concrete in the 1950s, and it was restored in 2009. The four-arched cut-stone bridge, right at the Şehzadeler Museum, links the Yalıboyu houses to the opposite bank and offers one of the city's best photo spots.
