Its story
Karagöl is a small but deep lake set in a volcanic basin northwest of the Çubuk district center. It is called 'Karagöl' (Black Lake) because of the dark color of its water and the popular belief that it is bottomless. The area around the lake is a nature park managed by the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks; there are a walking path, picnic areas and viewpoints around the lake. In autumn the yellow and crimson leaves are reflected on the lake surface, making it a favorite with photographers. Being close to Ankara, it draws crowds on weekends.
