Its story
Mogan is a barrier lake south of Ankara, adjoining the Gölbaşı district center, and together with Eymir Lake it is part of the Gölbaşı Special Environmental Protection Area. The lake and the surrounding reed beds shelter many waterbirds, especially during migration periods. With park areas, walking and cycling paths and tea gardens along the shore, it is a lively recreation area on weekends. The colors over the lake and the birds in flight at sunset attract photographers. Being a wetland within the city's dry steppe fabric makes Mogan especially valuable for Ankara.
