Its story
Soğuksu is a national park about 80 kilometers from Ankara, declared on 19 February 1959. With terrain of volcanic origin, the park lies in the transition zone from the Central Anatolian steppe to the Black Sea forests, and Scots pine makes up most of its forest. Around 160 bird species have been recorded in the park, of which the endangered cinereous vulture is especially important. With walking trails, picnic areas and viewpoints, it is one of Ankara residents' weekend getaways. The hot springs nearby also make Kızılcahamam a spa center.
