A Carian city near Başaran village, where the Dandalaz Çayı joins the Büyük Menderes.
Its story
Antiocheia, also called Menderes Antakyası (Antioch on the Meander), lies in the area called Asartepe near Başaran village in Kuyucak. The city is known by this name because it was built near the point where the Dandalaz Çayı (Morsynos) joins the Büyük Menderes. In antiquity it is known to have controlled an important bridge over the Menderes. It is one of the three Antiochs known in Türkiye; the others are Antakya and Pisidian Antioch in Yalvaç.
