Çine, Aydın
A mysterious Carian sanctuary in hilly terrain near Ovacık, with stone blocks inscribed "Gerga."
Its story
Gerga lies near Ovacık in the Çine district, about 13 km northwest of Alabanda. The site is known for its unusual structures reflecting local Carian tradition and the "Gerga" inscriptions on its rocks. A small temple building, a fountain and rock-carved monuments are scattered across a rural hillside. Since its name rarely appears in ancient sources, the site continues to intrigue researchers.
