Öküz Mehmet Paşa Caravanserai
Kuşadası, Aydın
A fortress-like caravanserai facing Kuşadası harbor, commissioned by Öküz Mehmet Paşa in the early 17th century.
Its story
The caravanserai was commissioned in the early 17th century by the Ottoman statesman and commander Öküz Mehmet Paşa. Resembling a small fortress with its crenellated walls, the building was where merchants and caravans arriving at the port stayed. Its two-story arcaded courtyard forms the heart of the building. It is within walking distance of Kuşadası's historic bazaar and Kaleiçi.
