Bandırma Archaeology Museum
Bandırma, Balıkesir
A museum displaying artifacts from the ancient cities of the southern Marmara, above all Kyzikos and Daskyleion.
Its story
The Bandırma Archaeology Museum brings together artifacts from excavations on the Kapıdağ Peninsula and in the southern Marmara. The exhibits include reliefs from Daskyleion, the seat of a Persian satrapy, sculpture and architectural pieces from Kyzikos, sarcophagi, coins and ceramics. Sarcophagi and funerary stelae are displayed in the garden. It is a good place to start for context before visiting the Kyzikos and Daskyleion archaeological sites.
