Its story
Because winter is long and snowy in Bitlis, the province has more than one ski area; the best known of these is the Nemrut Ski Center near Tatvan. The center is on the slope of the Nemrut volcano overlooking Lake Van and is said to have one of Türkiye's long ski runs. According to GoTürkiye, a chairlift about 2,550 meters long carries skiers to heights opening onto the crater lake on one side and a wide view of Lake Van on the other. It can be visited for skiing and snowboarding in winter and, after the snow melts, for the view at the start of the caldera road. Central Tatvan is used for accommodation and equipment.
