Burdur Museum
Merkez, Burdur
An award-winning archaeology museum with a rich collection ranging from the Hacılar and Kuruçay mounds to Sagalassos and Kibyra.
Its story
The Burdur Museum opened in 1969 and, with a collection of tens of thousands of works, is one of Turkey's important regional museums. Neolithic and Chalcolithic pottery and mother goddess figurines from the Hacılar, Kuruçay and Höyücek mounds are among the most valuable pieces in the collection. Statues brought from Sagalassos, Kibyra, Kremna and Bubon are impressive examples of Roman-period sculpture. In 2008 the museum received a "museum worth visiting" award from the European Museum Forum.
