Its story
The Malabadi Bridge spans the Batman Stream about 23 kilometers from Silvan. Built in 1147 by the Artuqid ruler Hüsameddin Timurtaş, the bridge's original name in its inscriptions is the Akarman Bridge. According to GoTürkiye, its pointed main arch of 40.86 meters makes it one of the widest-span stone arch bridges in the world. Built of colored stones, the bridge has survived to the present thanks to repairs. The symbol of the Silvan Municipality, it was repaired in 1989 and is on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List. There are picnic areas beside the bridge; to see the giant arch up close you need to go down to the bank.
