Its story
The building, which reflects Harput's traditional mansion architecture, was converted into a culture house when a house built in the late 18th century was restored in the early 2000s in keeping with Harput architecture. The house, named after the Elazığ businessman Şefik Gül, displays household items typical of Harput, local costumes, works of Harput music and an archive of old photographs of Elazığ and Harput. Sources state that the house is kept open to the public free of charge. Being right next to the Ulu Mosque, it is easy to visit together with the mosque on a tour of Harput; GoTürkiye's two-day route also recommends this house for seeing the region's architecture and culture up close.
