Its story
The waterfall, within the boundaries of the Çağlayan township at the foot of the Munzur Mountains, about 30 km southeast of Erzincan, gets its water from springs near the village of Kalecik a few kilometers upstream and drops in three tiers from a height of 30–40 meters. The area was placed under protection as a natural site in 1990; in 1953 a small hydroelectric plant using the waterfall's water was also built. Its green surroundings attract those seeking picnics and shade in summer. In winter, when the water freezes, the waterfall becomes a favorite of ice climbers; this sight is one of the city's most photographed winter images.
