Its story
Located in the middle of the Kemah bazaar, the Gülabibey Mosque, together with the nearby hammam of the same name, is among the district's buildings dated to the Akkoyunlu period. Kemah is a long-established town that came under Seljuk and Akkoyunlu rule after the Mengücekids and joined the Ottoman Empire in 1515; the district has many buildings reflecting this long past, such as kümbets, mosques, masjids, hammams and fountains. The mosque is used today as a neighborhood mosque open for worship. Around the building, which can be visited together with Kemah Castle and the Melik Gazi Kümbet, is the bazaar where the district's famous local products, such as tulum cheese, walnuts, honey and Kemah salt, are sold.
