Its story
Kastels are public water structures unique to Gaziantep, where the water of the underground channels (livas) running beneath the city collects in a courtyard reached by stairs. These spaces served as a fountain, a place for washing laundry, an ablution area and a resting place to cool off in the summer heat; most also have a small masjid. The Pişirici (Bişirici) Kastel, with its masjid, is one of the most visited examples of this tradition. The nearby Kozluca, İhsanbey and Şeyh Fethullah kastels can also be seen on the same walk.
