Mergabütan Ski Center

Its story

Built in the mountains on the north side of the city, the center makes skiing possible for a long part of the year in Hakkari, where snow depth reaches several meters; the season usually lasts until the end of April. According to data from the provincial directorate of culture, the center has six runs totaling about 10 km, a 1,165-meter four-seat chairlift, a 680-meter T-bar and a moving carpet; there is also run lighting for night skiing and a café at the summit. Besides skiing and snowboarding, it offers suitable areas for horse-drawn sledding and ski paragliding. From the summit there is a panoramic view of the Hakkari mountains and the city. The season opening depends on snow conditions.
