Its story
The forest covers the slopes of Aydos Hill, where the districts of Kartal, Sancaktepe, Sultanbeyli and Pendik meet. At about 537 meters, the hill is the highest point on İstanbul's Asian side, and from points near the summit you can see the Marmara and the Princes' Islands. The pond, picnic areas and walking paths in the forest are heavily used by city residents at weekends. On a spur of the hill are the remains of the Byzantine-era Aydos Castle.
