Coast and water / Island
Burgazada
Adalar, İstanbul
The third-largest of the Princes' Islands, identified with Sait Faik, with quiet streets and the Kalpazankaya cove.
Its story
Known as Antigoni in the Byzantine period, the island developed as a fishing settlement with a large Greek Orthodox population. The short-story writer Sait Faik Abasıyanık lived here for many years and portrayed the island's fishermen in many of his stories; his house is now a museum. The Church of St. John (Ayios Yannis) is one of the important buildings in the center of the island. Kalpazankaya, on the far side of the island, is known for its sea and sunset views.
