Gülhane Park
Fatih, İstanbul
A historic park converted from the outer garden of Topkapı Palace, descending to Sarayburnu with plane trees and tulip gardens.
Its story
The park covers part of the outer gardens of Topkapı Palace and became one of the city's first public parks when it opened to the public in 1912. It also went down in history as the place where the Tanzimat Edict was read in 1839. Long walking paths, centuries-old plane trees and tulip beds that bloom during the Tulip Festival in spring are the park's highlights. At the northern end of the park, in the section overlooking Sarayburnu, rises the Roman-era Column of the Goths.
