Piri Mehmet Paşa Mosque

A single-domed Ottoman mosque and complex in central Silivri, commissioned by Grand Vizier Piri Mehmed Paşa in 1530–31.
Its story
The mosque was commissioned by Piri Mehmed Paşa, grand vizier under Yavuz Sultan Selim (Selim I) and Süleyman the Magnificent; according to the inscription above the entrance, it was completed in 1530–31. The square-plan mosque, built of cut stone, is covered by a lead-clad dome about 12 meters in diameter. The architect of the building, which stands on a terrace in the middle of its courtyard, is not known for certain. The mosque is in the historic center of Silivri, close to the castle remains.
