Its story
The museum is housed in the palace built in the 16th century on the edge of the Hippodrome by Pargalı İbrahim Paşa, grand vizier of Süleyman the Magnificent. Seljuk and Ottoman carpets, Quran manuscripts, wooden and metal works, glass and ceramics form the main groups of the collection. The carpet collection is considered one of the world's most important groups of early Anatolian carpets. The ethnography section has tent and room re-creations depicting traditional Anatolian life.
