Narlıdere, İzmir
A museum in a historic cemevi building dated 1874, presenting the traditions of the Tahtacı Turkmens.
Its story
The building was constructed in 1874 and, after restoration in 2007, was turned into a museum under the name Narlıdere Culture House. In the two-and-a-half-story, nine-room house, the life of the Tahtacı Turkmen communities living in the area is brought to life with figures in traditional dress. The cem room, the trousseau room, a section on burial customs and a library of books on Alevi culture can be visited. It is regarded as Narlıdere's most important historic building.
