Village and rural life
Yenifoça
Foça, İzmir
A seaside town built around a small harbor, its back streets full of old Greek and Ottoman houses.
Its story
Yenifoça is a coastal settlement about 20 km from central Foça, known in antiquity as Nea Phokaia. The town's small harbor and the stone houses around it preserve its old fabric. Having gained importance in the Genoese period through the alum trade, the settlement is known today mostly as a summer resort town. It has a calmer atmosphere than Eski Foça.
