Its story
The Berke Dam is a concrete arch-gravity dam built in a deep valley on the Ceyhan River, close to the Kahramanmaraş–Osmaniye border. Its hydroelectric power plant, commissioned in 2001, has a total capacity of 510 MW with three units of 170 MW each. The dam, with its intake and access tunnels, is a structure embedded in the Taurus valley; the lake stretches between steep slopes with the look of a canyon.
