Its story
According to Evliya Çelebi, while repairing Kars Castle at the end of the 16th century, Lala Mustafa Paşa had a lodge (tekke) and mosque built in Kars in the name of Harakânî after a dream a soldier had. The TDV Encyclopedia of Islam states that Harakânî's actual grave is in Kharaqan in Iran and that the tomb in Kars is a commemorative (makam) tomb; over time this tradition led to the spread of the belief in Kars that Harakânî took part in the city's conquest. Popularly called the Evliya Mosque, the building is a few minutes' walk from the Kümbet Mosque and Taşköprü; it can be visited on the same walking route as the castle, the bridge and the historic mosques.
