Akhisar Museum
Akhisar, Manisa
An archaeology and ethnography museum opened in 2012 in a former hospital building dated 1932, opposite the Thyateira site.
Its story
The museum building was built in 1932 as a hospital, then used as a school and a teachers' guesthouse, and was converted into a museum through restoration. Its 650 m² exhibition area displays Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine artifacts from Akhisar and its surroundings, along with ethnographic objects from the Ottoman and Republican periods. A Persian-period funerary relief found in Gökçeler village is also one of the collection's notable pieces.
