An ancient city near the sources of the Bakırçay, founded by a people settled there by King Attalus I of Pergamon.
Its story
Gergitha is said to have been founded when King Attalus I of Pergamon settled the people of Gergis in the Troad here. Described in ancient sources as being near the sources of the Kaikos (Bakırçay) river, the settlement is today sought near Yırca in Soma. The site has not been excavated; it appeals mostly to those who want to trace ancient geography.
