Its story
Uçhisar Castle is a castle formed by carving out a natural rock mass rising in the middle of the town of Uçhisar, about 6 km from Nevşehir. The inside of the mass is full of rooms connected by passages; these spaces are thought to have been used for shelter and defense over long periods. The known history of the settlement goes back to the Roman and Byzantine periods. From the viewing terrace at the top you can see Güvercinlik (Pigeon) Valley, Göreme and, on clear days, Mount Erciyes and Mount Hasan. At sunset, the old village fabric at the foot of the castle takes on a special beauty.
