The castle is on a small peninsula extending into the sea, 4 kilometers from Fatsa. In the 18th century a wooden mansion known as the Hazinedaroğlu (Kademoğlu) Mansion was built on top of the inner castle. The mansion, run for a long time as a restaurant, is being converted into a city museum through a restoration launched by the metropolitan municipality in 2025.
