Gazi Museum (Mıntıka Palas)

The former Mıntıka Palas hotel where Mustafa Kemal stayed when he landed at Samsun on 19 May 1919; today a museum displaying Atatürk's belongings.
Its story
The building is the Mıntıka Palas hotel, where Mustafa Kemal and his companions stayed after landing at Samsun on 19 May 1919. During his visit in 1924 it was presented to Atatürk as a gift by the people of Samsun; in 1940 it was converted into a museum by the municipality, and in 1995 it was transferred to the Ministry. Atatürk's personal belongings and documents are displayed, and on the upper floor wax figures of the companions who came with him.
