Tekkeköy Caves Archaeological Valley and Museum House
Tekkeköy, Samsun
An archaeological valley consisting of caves bearing traces of the Hittite and Bronze Ages and a museum house displaying replicas of the finds.
Its story
Excavations carried out in 1940 in the caves at Tekkeköy found wheel-made pottery from the Early Bronze Age and Hittite period, vessels painted white on a black ground, vases with human faces, and graves. Replicas of these finds are displayed in the museum house in the valley. According to the Ministry page, the site can be visited free of charge at any hour of the day.
