Its story
Kasrik Gorge, in the town of Kasrik in Şırnak, is a gorge through which the Şırnak-Cizre highway passes, formed by the Kızılsu Çayı (Kızılsu Stream) flowing between rocky slopes. In the area, registered as a 'sensitive area to be strictly protected' by a decision published in the Official Gazette in March 2020, 141 animal species, one of them critically endangered, and 18 plant species, including two critical species, have been identified. Especially in spring, families from neighboring provinces come here to picnic; a historic bridge, caves and the canyon walls are points worth seeing. The Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism also counts among the province's cultural assets the Kasrik ruins, which according to legend were used as a summer residence in the time of the Prophet Noah.
