Behram Paşa Hanı
Merkez, Sivas
A two-story city han with a courtyard, commissioned in 1576 by Behram Paşa, governor of Sivas, known for the lion figures on its entrance gate.
Its story
The Behram Paşa Hanı was commissioned in 1576 by Sağır Behram Paşa, beylerbeyi of Sivas. The two-story building consists of rooms arranged around an open courtyard; the lion figures above the entrance door are its most striking detail. The building reflects the city's importance on trade routes in the Ottoman period. Together with the Kurşunlu Hamamı, commissioned by the same pasha, it forms a group of buildings. After restoration, its courtyard has become a lively meeting place with tea and dining venues.
