Its story
Construction of the Çorlu Süleymaniye Mosque began in 1521 on the orders of Süleyman the Magnificent; its architect is said to have been Acem İshak. The mosque was originally part of a complex together with a soup kitchen (imaret), a hammam and a madrasa. The building, with a single large dome, is the most important Ottoman work of this staging town on the Edirne–Istanbul road. Thanks to its location in the city center, it is a stop easily seen by those passing through Çorlu.
