Village and rural life
Gaziköy (Ganos)
Şarköy, Tekirdağ
A coastal village where the ancient settlement of Ganos, which gave its name to Ganos Dağı, stood, with fountains bearing Byzantine inscriptions.
Its story
Gaziköy is on the shore where the ancient settlement of Ganos stood; Xenophon writes that this place was a coastal town belonging to the Thracian King Seuthes. Işıklar or Ganos Dağı takes its name from this settlement. The village preserves the Byzantine-period Kocaçeşme and the inscriptions of the Gaziköy Fountain. Surrounded by vineyards, the village is a quiet stop on the coastal road between Uçmakdere and Hoşköy.
