Its story
The mosque, at the Kemeraltı locality of the Çarşı neighborhood, was commissioned in the first half of the 19th century by Hazinedarzade Osman Paşa, who served for a long time as governor of Trabzon. Because the land slopes, shops were placed beneath the narthex on the north facade; this makes the building a natural part of the bazaar fabric. The fine stonework, the baroque borders around the doors and windows, and the Empire-style narthex portico resting on slender columns show the Westernizing influences of the period. The Culture Portal presents the building as the largest mosque in the city. It can be visited on foot together with the bedesten and the historic hans.
