Hapsiyaş Bridge (Kiremitli Köprü)
Of, Trabzon
A wooden bridge built in 1935 over the Solaklı Deresi, resting on stone piers and notable for its tile-covered roof.
Its story
The Hapsiyaş Bridge, also known as the Kiremitli Köprü (Tiled Bridge), is over the Solaklı Deresi near the Bölümlü neighborhood of the Of district. It was built in 1935 by Abdülaziz Sandıkçı for pedestrians, animals and the transport of loads. The load-bearing elements, deck and railings of the single-span bridge, resting on stone piers, are of wood; it is covered by a hipped roof clad in traditional Turkish tiles. The bridge was repaired by the Highways Directorate in 1987 and by the Trabzon Governorship in 2002. There are a walking path, a picnic area and a viewing terrace on the stream bank; it is suitable for a short break on the way to Uzungöl.
