Its story
According to local belief, Düzgün Baba is a saint with miraculous powers who, in a dry winter, was able to graze his flock by striking the dry ground with his staff; when his secret was revealed, he is believed to have climbed to the summit of the mountain and vanished. For this reason the mountain is locally called Kemerê Duzgıni (Düzgün's rock) or Bımbarek (blessed). Visitors first stop at the cemevis on the mountain's slopes, then climb to the summit at around 2,100 meters on a walk of about two hours; along the way there are rock hollows where offerings are made, and on the summit a stone tomb. The shrine, where sacrifices are made, candles lit and prayers said especially in the summer months, receives thousands of people; the summit also offers a wide view of the Munzur mountains.
