Its story
The Uzunçayır Dam is an earth-fill dam for energy production built by the State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) between 1994 and 2009 on the Munzur Çayı, about 14 km south of Tunceli. According to GoTürkiye, the reservoir, on the water formed after the Munzur and Pülümür streams join, stretches from the Mazgirt Bridge to the city center. The lake shores are used for picnics, camping, water sports and angling. The lake reaching into the city center has given Tunceli the appearance of a waterfront city in a narrow valley. In summer, the beaches along the stream banks are also among the places heavily used by local people.
