Sebaste Ancient City (Selçikler)

The remains at Selçikler of a city founded in the time of Augustus, which became the region's bishopric in the 6th century.
Its story
Sebaste is the ancient city bearing the name of the Roman Emperor Augustus, at Selçikler, 2 km west of Sivaslı. Excavations at the mound in Selçikler between 1966-1978 uncovered settlement layers from different periods. In the 6th century AD it gained importance as the region's bishopric. Church remains, a fountain and architectural fragments can be seen in and around the village; some finds are in the Uşak Museum.
