Its story
Abalı is the ski area most preferred by city residents in the winter months, reachable on a short journey from central Van. According to the İpekyolu Municipality's city guide, the facility has two main runs of 1300 and 1200 meters and a 250-meter run for beginners; the runs are reached by mechanical lifts. The view of Lake Van down the slopes sets it apart from the other ski areas in the region. The Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism also counts Abalı among Gevaş's prominent tourist spots. The opening and length of the season vary every year according to snowfall; crowds increase during the schools' mid-term break. In the summer months the area looks like a quiet highland pasture.
