Its story
The Alemdar is a salvage tug built in Denmark in 1898 and seized by the Ottomans during World War I. The ship, which joined the side of the national struggle in the War of Independence, is known for having come through an encounter with a French warship in the Black Sea successfully, and took the name 'Gazi Alemdar'. The original ship was dismantled in 1982. Since 2008, a replica of the ship has been open to visitors as a museum ship in the port of Karadeniz Ereğli. Inside, the story of the ship and the maritime history of the period are told.
