Its story
Acıgöl (Lake Çardak) is a tectonic lake in a closed basin where the provinces of Denizli, Afyonkarahisar and Burdur meet. Its surface area varies greatly with the seasons: it reaches about 100 km² in spring and shrinks to as little as 35 km² by late summer. Its deepest point is only about 1.6 m, and its water is bitter and salty. It is protected as a Class B Wetland; its shallow shores attract waterbirds.
