The tomb belongs to Abdurrahman Sultan, said to have been a disciple of Abdülkadir Geylani. In local historical accounts, the fact that Abdurrahman Sultan lived in the area is considered one of the pieces of evidence supporting the estimate that the people of Başmakçı settled here between 1100 and 1200. Başmakçı appears in the tax registers of Süleyman the Magnificent's reign as a village of 47 households.
