Its story
The museum first opened in 1967 with works brought from the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations in Ankara. It was later enriched with finds from excavations in the region. The archaeology section features the 7th-century BC Cebelireis Mountain Inscription in Phoenician; one of its most famous works is a 2nd-century bronze statue of Herakles. The ethnography section displays objects of local life.
