Yivli Minare Mosque
Muratpaşa, Antalya
A 13th-century Seljuk monument that has become Antalya's symbol, with its fluted brick minaret at the entrance to Kaleiçi.
Its story
Also called the Antalya Ulu Mosque, the building is counted among the city's first Islamic buildings and dates to the 13th-century Seljuk period. With the deep flutes on its shaft and traces of blue tile visible in places, the minaret has become the city's best-known silhouette. It is on Cumhuriyet Avenue, very close to Kalekapısı Square. With the complex buildings around it, it is the natural starting point for a tour of Kaleiçi.
