Safety warning
Its story
The canyon is a narrow gorge formed by the Ardanuç Stream cutting deeply into hard rock; its sheer walls rise very high in places, while the floor narrows to just a few meters at some points. It was declared a nature park on 1 May 2018 and is listed by the DKMP among Artvin's nature parks. To make the canyon easier to explore, wooden stairs and walkways have been built from the entrance; from the viewpoints you can see the deep valley and the rock mass on which Ardanuç Castle stands. Spring, when the slopes turn green, is especially appealing for photography. Facilities around the canyon are limited, so get water and food in central Ardanuç.
